Tigerair Taiwan, the low-cost carrier joint venture of  Tiger Airways Singapore and China Airlines, signed an agreement with Neihu District-based APEX Flight Academy, according to UDN.

Tigerair will be the first airline to train its pilots in Taiwan. Other airlines send pilots for training in the U.S. and Australia.

APEX became the first Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA)-licensed flight school in Taiwan last October and has more than 60 students. Its flight training base is located at Taitung (Fong Nien) Airport. APEX also has a new flight simulator facility in Nankan.

Tigerair recently announced that it would begin direct flights from Kaohsiung and Taoyuan to Osaka on July 3 as well as Taoyuan to Okinawa flights on June 29.
