Taoyuan Airport received an award for the best airport staff from the 2015 World Airport Awards, which is organized by Skytrax. It beat out Tokyo Haneda and Incheon airports, respectively.
The airport ranked 17th overall, up one place from the previous year. It also ranked 9th overall for shopping and 4th for airport security.
Taoyuan Airport saw double-digit growth in passenger numbers last year, and is expected to accommodate more this year–possibly 40 million. The south runway recently reopened, alleviating delays, but the north runway is set to close for renovations.
As Taipei was listed as a must-see destination by BuzzFeed, the city expects even more tourists to visit. Taiwan’s EVA Air was also ranked one of the 10 safest airlines in the world.
