Taichung Police Charged with Protecting Porn Operation

The Taichung District Prosecutors Office brought charges against members of the Taichung police department for their involvement in protecting a pornography business, as well as possible prostitution, operating out of at least two spas in the city, UDN reported. In all, 11 people were brought in for questioning in the investigation and police officers involved are being held on NT$50,000 bail.

Charges brought against the police and the porn operation include corruption, accepting bribes, bribery, breach of confidentiality, harboring indecent industry, and violation of public decency. At least three police officers are accused in the investigation of taking bribes from the sex industry.

The accused police officers allegedly tipped off the sex workers before official searches as well as performed false searches in exchange for gifts.

The investigation is still ongoing.
