Spring Break on the Beach in Kenting isn’t exactly known for tasteful advertising. Considering the raucous that the three-day concert/party causes each year, the advertising shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
The Spring Wave Music and Arts Festival, which was a major part of the Kenting festival, moved to Taipei last year because of difficulty in finding a location in Kenting. Spring Scream is still scheduled to remain in Kenting this year, though the event has not released any promotional material yet.

This year’s Spring Break on the Beach will take place on April 1 to 3 at Kenting Chateau Beach Resort 墾丁夏都沙灘酒店. Last year’s event attracted about 18,000 people. Presale tickets, which will be available in February, are NT$1200 for a single day and NT$1800 for all three days and include three hours of open bar.
To add to the tasteful quality of the event, organizers are requesting anyone to “Post a SELFIE in your sexiest BIKINI” on the Facebook event page. If the photo gets more than 100 likes, organizers will send a free three-day pass.
Last year, police increased security for the event in response to worldwide terror attacks. Such security measures are expected to remain in place this year as well. Each year there are also reports of drug use and arrests. In 2015, the Pingtung Environmental Protection Union criticized a “foam party” at Spring Scream, saying that the runoff posed an immediate environmental danger.
