Despite only one runway in operation for most of the year, total exit and entry passenger volume at Taoyuan International Airport increased 7.45% from 2014, UDN reported. The total number of passengers at the airport in 2015 rose to 38.47 million from 35.8 million the previous year. Aircraft movements at the airport also increased 5.9% to 221,000.

Passenger volume increased by double-digits in 2014. Estimates at the beginning of the year forecast passenger volume to reach 40 million.

The airport attributes the increase to more airlines opening routes to Taoyuan, including Turkish Airlines, Scoot, Jeju Air, and Jetstar. China Airlines and EVA also opened new direct routes to attract more passengers.

The airport believes that utilizing both runways (the north runway reopened on December 24) and a terminal expansion will help it to grow for the future.

Skytrax named Taoyuan International Airport as having the best staff in its 2015 World Airport Awards.
