On a rather quiet street not far from Taipei Arena (Exit 4), a low-key bar offers one of Taipei’s largest selections of local and imported beer. There is a beer to please everyone’s taste here in Songshan District.
Way Home (家途中啤酒屋) offers customers a few draught beers and a much larger selection of bottles ranging in price from NT$150 to more than NT$600. They have one of the best selections of Taiwanese craft beers as well (though I have not seen any from 886 or Redpoint breweries yet). As with most bars that have such variety, the selection changes based on availability, season, and importers.
The fridge is at the front of the bar and not all the beers available are cold–you’ll have to ask whether the beer you want is cold as well as the price of it (if it isn’t cold, the staff can chill a bottle for you while you enjoy something else).
There are a few tables at the front of the bar as well as a few stools at the tap. There is also a back room with more seating for small parties along with a corner table out of sight of the front of the bar.
Staff is helpful and knowledgeable about the beer selection, but not all of them speak much English–it’s a good opportunity to practice your Chinese beer vocabulary.
There is also a limited food menu for customers who get the munchies while enjoying their brew.
