Police discovered a woman’s skull last night near IKEA in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei, after being tipped off by a foreign migrant worker who reported it.
The man, identified by UDN as a 33-year-old Vietnamese migrant, was fishing along the riverside next to Huanhan Rd. behind the IKEA store two days ago when he noticed what he thought to be a human head along the embankment, Apple Daily reported. The man took a photo with his phone and showed it to friends to confirm that it may be a human head.
He returned to the local police last night at 9 pm to show the photo to authorities who then dispatched investigators to the area. Police recovered a blackend skull with its jaw missing. Initial analysis suggests that the skull belonged to woman, but the age and identity cannot be confirmed at this time.
The remains were moved to a funeral home and further tests will be conducted in the investigation to determine identity and cause of death.
