Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR) will promote train travel for tourists through new partnerships with hotels around Taiwan.
Following the announcement on March 24 that it would partner with airlines, including EVA and China Airlines, to offer discounted train tickets, the HSR said today that it would have similar promotions through hotels in Taiwan, The Central News Agency reported. Tourists will be able to book their train tickets through the hotels after booking their rooms.
The HSR said it has reached agreements with 59 hotels so far to offer up to a 25% discount on train tickets. Some hotels in Taiwan already have partnerships with car rental companies to offer a 35% on car rentals.
The HSR served about 48 million passenger trips last year, of which only 760,000 were tourists.
