Seafood wholesaler Yuyang International (漁洋國際股份有限公司), headquartered in Luzhou District, has allegedly been tampering with the expiration dates of its products, which include shrimp, clams, and mackerel, Apple Daily reported. Yuyang International supplies seafood to 5-star hotels in northern Taiwan, including Ambassador Hotel. Its products are also sold to local seafood restaurants and shops.
New Taipei Prosecutors Office and the Health Bureau are investigating the company’s headquarters to determine whether Yuyang tampered with its products that were sold to hotels and restaurants.
Allegations such as these might be why a majority of Taiwanese don’t trust food safety.
