In response to the devastating earthquake in Ecuador in April that left more than 650 dead and thousands injured, the Hispanic Catholic Community led by Narcisa Ponce, an Ecuadorian woman who has lived in Taiwan for more than 20 years, has organized a charity food festival to benefit people affected by the natural disaster. The food festival will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Shipai on Sunday, June 5 from 12:30 to 4:30 (map).
All proceeds from the charity food festival will be donated to local foundations helping with reconstruction efforts in Ecuador. The event will mostly sell traditional Ecuadorean cuisine; however, many students and Latin Americans living in Taiwan will donate other dishes to support the cause. There will also be Latin music to enjoy while eating.
