The Ministry of Economic Affairs held an opening ceremony for the 4G+ experimental network to help Taiwanese manufacturers to quickly test new products to compete globally.

Economic Affairs Minister John Chen-Chung Deng said the network hopes to lower product costs by reducing R&D testing time. He also said it should improve competitiveness of Taiwanese companies.

The 4G+ experimental network combines the leading international commercial equipment, covering major bands used around the world. The ministry plans for VoLTE, SDN, and other emerging technologies to be included in the test environment. The network will develop into B4G and a 5G initial verification technology development platform to help manufacturers adopt the new generation of networking products.

The 4G+ experimental network is developed by Alcatel Lucent, Ericsson, Nokia, NEC, Rohde & Schwarz and other international companies, as well as Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone Telecomunications, and other carriers.
