An early morning fire on Section 2 Zhonghua Rd. in Taipei’s Wanhua District spread through apartments and took an hour and a half for firefighters to extinguish, Apple Daily reported.
The fire started at 6 a.m. on Friday and eight residents, including one child, had to be taken to the hospital, but none of their injuries were life threatening. More than 300 people from 104 apartments had be evacuated while firefighters brought the fire under control.
Taipei City Fire Department dispatched 126 police, 33 fire engines and nine ambulances to the scene to fight the blaze and rescue residents.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
