Local clothing brand Galoop, with its snail logo, announced on its Facebook page on Thursday that it would shut down after 15 years. The popular brand that started in Tainan and prides itself on being made in Taiwan was founded in 2003.
The Facebook post generated an outpouring of support and disappointment. The company did not mention why it was closing; it only mentioned that “We are tired” and made vague allusions to a lack of sales.
According to the post, all its products will be sold at a 35% discount starting Friday. Galoop will officially close its stores in Tainan and Kaohsiung at the end of August. The Kaohsiung store opened in October 2016.
Galoop’s products include clothing for men, women, and infants, as well as jewelry, accessories, home goods and stationery.
