Man Falls on Tracks at Taipei Main

A 30-year-old man fell onto the tracks in front of a train at Platform 3 at Taipei Main Station on Saturday evening. The man was taken to NTU Hospital and declared dead at 8:20 pm, Liberty Times reported.

The man, surnamed Li fell onto the tracks just after 7 pm. He was struck by TRA train 1241 bound for Hsinchu from Keelung as it arrived at the station at 7:09 pm.

Police are unsure what caused the man to fall from the platform. They added that there is no way confirm the cause of the accident. Apple Daily, however, reported that the man jumped onto the track.

The accident caused a 24-minute delay, affecting about 400 passengers.
