The city government plans to turn open public spaces into public gardens, allowing residents to plant vegetables on the land. The city announced last week that land next to city hall and city council buildings would be opened for gardening.
Residents will be able to apply to purchase plots of land listed online for gardening. Private owners are also invited to place plots for sale.
City regulations will forbid residents from using chemical fertilizers or pesticides, but it will provide organic fertilizer from the Taipei Department of Environmental Protection.
